Threadlift Q & A
What is a thread lift?
A thread lift is an aesthetic procedure for rejuvenating your facial skin. Dr. Jacobs uses polydioxanone (PDO) threads made of biodegradable polyester, which are just like surgical sutures. He threads these sutures through the skin on different parts of your face, lifting and anchoring your skin to smooth it out.
In addition to the lifting and tightening that happens when you have a thread lift, the needle going through your skin stimulates new tissue production, which further helps with the rejuvenation process.
A PDO thread lift can take years off your appearance, correcting many of the typical signs of aging that can make you look old and tired. Dr. Jacobs’ specialized aesthetic medicine training enables him to perform safe and effective facial thread lifts.
Why should I consider a thread lift?
You might want to consider consulting Dr. Jacobs about a thread lift if you’re concerned about aging skin on your face.
As you get older, your body produces smaller amounts of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give your skin its tautness and keep the underlying tissues plump. The fat deposits in your face also disappear, which results in loose, sagging skin, hollows, and wrinkles.
Undergoing cosmetic surgery is one solution, but it’s invasive, expensive, and requires a long recovery period. PDO thread lifts offer a fast, cost-effective alternative that causes minimal discomfort and achieves excellent results.
What happens when I have a thread lift?
Before performing your PDO thread lift, Dr. Jacobs checks your medical history and current health and discusses the results you can expect to achieve. When you’re ready for your thread lift, Dr. Jacobs inserts the threads into your skin and tightens them to lift and support the skin.
When your thread lift is complete, you may carry on with your day without needing any downtime. You can see the results immediately, but you’ll also notice further improvements after about a month as the new collagen builds up. After six months or so, the PDO threads start to dissolve, but the effects of the procedure typically last around 2-3 years.
